The Boca Raton Observer | “The Salon” Local Artists Exhibition Extended at ArtServe Through Feb. 13

“The Salon,” an exhibition of nearly 150 incredible and diverse works from 30 South Florida artists, has been extended at ArtServe through Saturday, February 13.

ArtServe members and resident artists eagerly await each year’s The Salon, which is known in South Florida’s art community as a place to connect with art scouts who target the exhibit annually for up-and-coming talent.  Some Salon participants in the past have used this event as a springboard to exhibit at Art Basel.

“2020 has been challenging for us on many fronts, but we are moving into a new decade with change, growth and resilience starting with The Salon,” said exhibit curator Sophie Bonet. “The Salon is a celebration of art, culture and a living, breathing testament of transformation.  We have works in all disciplines, highlighting our commitment as one of the nation’s original arts incubators to foster and celebrate all forms of artistic expression.”

ArtServe, an award-winning non-profit organization that has been supporting the local arts and creative community for more than 30 years, is continuing to ensure adherence to all COVID-19 safety protocols, including limiting groups indoors, social distancing, hand sanitizing and mandatory mask-wearing for the safety of guests, artists and staff.  During in-person tours of The Salon, access to the gallery is maintained at a limited capacity, with pre-scheduled groups and guided tours running at 10- to 15-minute intervals.

“We also have utilized ArtServe Live to introduce the artists who have works featured in The Salon,” ArtServe Executive Director Jason Hughes noted. “We’ve turned the canvas over to our members and resident artists. The result is an amazing exhibition with some of the finest works of art you will see either in person or in the comfort of your own home.”

The Salon artists were introduced virtually on ArtServe’s “Facebook Live” event series and can be replayed here:  https://www.facebook.com/ArtServeFlorida/videos

The first ArtServe Live edition of “The Salon” features member artists Harriet Silverstein, Zipporah Michel, Daniela Sanchez Vegas, Cheryl Brown, Paul McDermott, Lori Pratico, DAK, Alexandra Fields O’Neale, RESQ 77, Alissa Christine, Anabel Rub Peicher, Twyla Gettert, Phoenix Niewidok and Marco Caridad.
