This artwork is part of a series of abstract erotic hybrid depictions, drawing over a carton board over craft paper to add more texture to the strokes. And I explored wood laser cutting stencils to use them as a monoprint. The work comes framed with untreated pine with gallery glass. For me is an irreverent protest after growing up in a devoutly religious Latin American culture; my “coming out” process was tumultuous. I began to question my identity as a man and what it meant to bear the extra layers of queerness in a society still learning to accept people for who they are. Visual rhetoric endeavors to discover us through shapes, lines, and vivid colors, inviting the audience to reconsider and redefine what it means to be “oneself.”
