“Inside Out Parade” is an onsite art installation that explores the theme of revealing inner truths and complexities. The work suggests a transformative journey of self-discovery and self-expression, challenging societal norms and expectations. This installation is the culmination of my research about societal labels, which started with my solo show, “Sans Stereotypes,” through an interactive installation adorned with labels containing words that bothered me.

Later, I created another installation with labels in Miami’s Pinecrest Garden, and a diverse audience, including young adults and children, showed a genuine curiosity about understanding the message beyond the labels. People wrote more than 300 messages, in which “Truth Will Set You Free” and “Se tú mismo en cada momento” particularly resonated with me. These messages inspired the creation of distressed t-shirts, incorporating the phrases as a reminder of the significance of self-awareness and self-acceptance. The messages on the inside of the t-shirt, close to the heart, symbolize activism’s personal and internal nature. It serves as a potent reminder that the opinions of others should not dictate our realities, emphasizing the importance of confronting and shaping our truths.
