About the project
In Deconstructed Identity, watercolor, marker, and oil pastel fragment the figure without dissolving it completely. The image moves between a recognizable face and a field of gesture, holding self-representation open rather than resolving it into a single portrait.
Made in 2022, the work anticipates later investigations into how a body is assembled from conflicting ways of seeing and naming it. Its concern with identity is grounded in an image made by the artist, where recognition and uncertainty occupy the same surface.
